That Mom…

To a woman I have never met, Kaylin Maree Schimpf, I must say thank you.

September 3, 2016, you published a picture and short statement that went viral on social media.

“Dear men…. take the photo…

It doesn’t matter what she looks like, or if she tells you no, take the photo. You may not think about it often, or at all honestly. But how many photos does she capture of you, of your family and of your life you’ve built. But when she is gone, those photos won’t show your children the women who was behind the camera.

Take the photo. Messy hair, no make-up or a dirty old t-shirt won’t matter to your children when she is gone someday. What will matter is that you loved what you saw enough to take a photo, to document it, to preserve that moment in time of the woman you love. No woman wants to look back at a lifetime of selfies. Do what she does for you every day, and snap a few moments in time.

Be proud. Take photos of her. Before kids and after.” ~Kaylin

Even though this was written nearly 2 years ago, this post finally made it my way just a short few months ago.  I sent it to my husband so he would see it.  Since then, I am thankful to report that our photo stream is filling up with random photos of my boys and I.  I still will be “that mom”, but I am happy to see different view on my photos.

Yes, I am “that mom”  that captures selfies with her children.

Yes, I am “that mom” that overloads social media with pictures of her precious boys.

Yes, I am “that mom” that worked really hard to get where I am today.

Yes, I am “that mom” that never thought she’d have this chance.

Yes, I am “that mom” that says I don’t care if you don’t like all my pictures.

Yes, I am “that mom” that thinks her boys are angels (most of the time).

Yes, I am “that mom” that will lay her life down for her boys.

Yes, I am “that mom” and proud to be just that.

Thank you all for your continued support.

~Magic
